My name is Kris, and the team at Royal Papworth Hospital gave me something I can never repay — they gave me my life back.
After years of struggling with scleroderma, my lungs failed and I needed a double lung transplant to survive. There were moments when I thought I might never see my family again.
But the doctors, nurses and staff at Royal Papworth never gave up on me. Their skill, care and compassion carried me through the darkest time of my life.
That is why every year, for the rest of my life, I will organise an annual fundraiser on 25th November, the day I went into surgery for my life-saving transplant. This day will always remind me of the second chance I was given.
So far, with the incredible support of our community, we have raised more than £19,000 for Royal Papworth. This is my way of saying thank you and helping the hospital continue their life-saving work for others.
I will never forget what they did for me, and I will spend my life giving back.
